23 Things-The First Thing

During this class, I hope to learn more options of technology for the students to be able to communicate with me and other students. There are so many different "things" out there to use, I have heard many different names of the "things", but have no idea what they are. So, what do I hope to learn, what they are and how to use them.

Thing 2--New Bloggers--Is it easy, can it be done?

What makes a good blog?
In a simple word, communication. What is it that you want to blog about and why? Having a blog allows you to communicate with others of the same interests, business, or hobbies. Blogging allows you to share ideas, give suggestions, and spread the news. So, providing details and information in the blog are essential to make a good blog.

How could a blogs enhance your existing school web site?
After looking at a few blogs, specifically 5th grade blogs, I see that students open up for communication, ask questions, and comment on other students work. This really makes the students think about what is being asked. They have to answer the question, which in turn makes them ask other questions before they can answer the questions.

Are blogs an easier way for people to self-publish?
Once you learn and understand what you can do with blogging, I believe this is a great way to self publish. It took me about 5 minutes to set up my blog, then I can add, change, create new looks, designs and really express myself, hence, self-publishing is very easy for anyone.

Reflections on Web 2.0, I still think that technology is farther ahead of us then we are using in our classrooms/schools. We have so many opportunities to learn and teach in a more useful way that students can understand. As mentioned before, students can interact with each other and ask each other questions that enhance the learning. Growing in technology is a wonderful opportunity for the students.l
